Preparing for an Economic Collapse

The US Government, as of the end of 2018, is now $22,000,000,000,000 in debt ($22 trillion). The problem is, interest is rising and there is no end in sight. We continue adding about $1 trillion per year, and neither side can agree on a realistic budget to fix the issue. We have been adding onto this debt for far too long, and I fear that the system can not continue to sustain itself much longer. It is heartbreaking, since I love this country, but I fear it is true.

While I don't feel like it's essential to worry about the economy all day every day, I do feel like being prepared for a collapse is wise. Here are a few tips for getting prepared:

1) Be generous with your neighbors. During an economic collapse, having a network of people to rely on will be more essential than ever. As Proverbs 22:1 says, "Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold."

2) Consolidate - During an economic collapse, comfort takes a back seat to survival. For example, instead of one family per house, it is one family per bedroom.

3) Have a current passport. Being able to "escape" to another country during an economic collapse may be an may be an opportunity only available for the lucky people who have current passports.

4) Purchase a nice generator in case of a power grid collapse. A Solar generator is a good idea, since getting gasoline may be difficult during a collapse.

5) Pay off all debts.

6) Own some gold or silver in case of a dollar collapse.

7) Consider owning a van or RV to sleep in.

8) Consider owning a gun.
